Google Domain Renewal: Phishing Alert

Domain renewal extends the ownership of a domain name by a year or more. Most of the time domains require renewal every year or so in order to retain that domain name.

Domain Renewal

Most domain renewal scams come in the form of emails, mail, or phone calls. The domain scams begin by asking if you’re the owner of the domain then they tell you that it’s going to expire soon and to pay if you want to renew the domain.

Google does do domain renewal but they will contact you one month and one week before expiration via email from a ‘@google.com’ email address. Please be warry for misspellings of the sender’s address. Most scammers use ‘@goggle.com’ or common misspellings of google.

What to Look Out For:

No reputable person or agency will request personal or payment information on the spot in exchange for a service.

If you get a phone call, ask them to send you an email and ask them to provide you with their Google Partner profile link to confirm they’re actually from google.
